Day 1 - Wallsend to Heddon on the Wall

17.7 miles

Following a short Metro ride to Wallsend we set out from Segedunum museum in Wallsend.
Following the River Tyne for most of the day , through urban, suburban and industrial Newcastle until the final four miles or so. Despite the initial presence of litter and graffiti, the 'scenery' improved somewhat as we approached the town centre and Millennium Bridge.
Very little, if any, sign og 'the wall', though ....
